Special Educational Needs
SEN at Rivacre Valley Primary
In relation to SEND provision it's important to note that, whilst we have had to make changes to the way we deliver education to ensure the education enviroment is as safe as possible from the risk of coronavirus, our statutory duties for children and young people with SEND remain the same. This means using best endeavours to secure that the special education provision called for by the pupil's or student's special education needs is made. For information about Health and Safety practices relating to coronavirus, please see infromation for Parents September 2020 on the home page of the school website.
SEN Information Report 2020/2021
At Rivacre Valley Primary School, we recognise the individual needs of every pupil, including their educational needs. Consideration is given to all aspects of provision to ensure all pupils, including those who may require additional support, have access to the breadth of the school curriculum and curriculum enhancing activities.
New legislation (The Children and Families Act 2014) enacted on the 13th March came into force from the 1st September 2014. A new SEN Code of Practice also accompanies this legislation and was introduced in September 2014. Schools are now required to publish a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Information report on their school website.
The Cheshire West and Chester Live Well Service
- In line with The Children and Families Act 2014, Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’ and is known in Cheshire as the Live Well Service.
- The intention of the Live Well is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area
