Welcome to the Foundation Stage

The Foundation Stage consists of  one Nursery and one Reception class.

The provision is split into four areas:

The Ladybird Room

Mrs Marsh
Miss Bellis

The Busy Bee Room

The Dragonfly Room

Miss Caslin
Mr Denham
Mrs Ash
Miss Plested

and the

Outside Area

Our topic this half term:

As part of this topic we will be going into story world and taking part in a Pirate theme narrative Immersion.
This means we will get to meet some of the characters from the story in our classroom
(or it might be Mr Denham ands Miss Caslin pretending to be the characters)
We will have chance to ask the characters questions and help them with tasks like creating posters; writing messages in bottles, and finding Captain Calamity's Treasure

Our Author of the Half Term:

Alison Donald

In both Nursery and Reception, there will be a large focus on gross and fine motor skills (large and small movements) to help children develop pencil control.

Characteristics of Effective Learning.

The Characteristics of Effective Learning are the ways in which children engage with other people and their environment. They underpin learning and development across all areas of the curriculum and support the child to remain an effective and motivated learner; we plan to support these characteristics throughout all of our planning across the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Tapestry is the online learning journal system we  use in place of learning journey books.  This is where you can see what your child is up to in school and where they are with regard to their learning.

For those of you who already have a tapestry login from nursery, you will continue to view tapestry as normal.
We will be setting up taspestry accounts for any new starters as soon as we can.

We really enjoy and appreciate all of your comments and uploads to Tapestry.  We hope to hear more this year about what your children are getting up to at home.

Just click on the picture to follow the link to log in and see your child's learning journey

This half term

In reception, we will be having two P.E sessions a week along with the daily mile each day

P.E sessions this half term will be

Gymnastics on a Tuesday

and a class P.E session on a Thursday.

Please make sure your child has a labelled PE kit in school so they can get the most out of the lessons.

Please also ensure all of your childs clothes and shoes have their name in so they come home with the correct uniform after a P.E session.

Water Bottles

Please make sure you send your child with a water bottle each day.
We ask that it is only water in water bottles, not juice or fizzy pop.

Messy Play

Image result for messy play
We encourage children to get fully involved in their learning (play) which can often result in children and their uniform becoming quite messy. We provide aprons and water proof clothing and try our utmost to limit this for you.

We do our best to make sure your child comes home with the right jumper/cardigan at the end of each day;
Please can you make sure your child's jumper has their name written in it clearly to help us.

The best place to write a name so it is less likely to  fade
is on the inside of the bottom hem at the back

Thanks in advance.

Parent Readers.

Every Tuesday afternoon 2.45pm, parents are invited to support childrens engagement with reading.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to come and speak to one of the team - Our doors are always open.
